It also included the reconstruction of an existing 5 lane curb and gutter roadway, with upgraded storm sewer systems and outfalls. This project included hydraulic analysis, design of plan and profile for the proposed roadway, traffic signal design, traffic control plans, water and sanitary sewer design, and storm sewer analysis and design. Close multi-agency coordination with Harris County Flood Control District, and the City of Pasadena was a vital part of the project’s development. The project is in front of City of Pasadena complex, Pasadena new courthouse and mainly other landmarks in that area.
New storm sewers, waterlines, sanitary lines, 6 new signals, crossing streets modification to improve turning radiuses, intersection ADA, and an elaborate beautification with pavers, special street lights, landscaping some hardscape are other parts of this project. A complete Hydraulics study was performed to address the flooding issues and the impact of new roadway into adjacent Little Vincent Bayou. Alternative alignments and schematics were performed to minimize the ROW takings and try to stay within the existing one to reduce costs and have least impact on existing businesses. Private utilities had to be coordinated with and some relocated at places to accommodate new improvements. Extensive coordination had to be performed with City of Pasadena as well since they were the recipients of this project.
