City of Houston, Heights Area

Reconstruction of 1.7 miles of urban roadway as Prime Consultant in Historic and congested Heights Area, City of Houston.  Construction cost of $7.2 million.  TxDOT/City of Houston funding.  Responsibilities included roadway design, geometrics design, hydraulic analysis, pavement design, traffic control design, SWPPP, design a major storm sewer replacement, detention design, waterline replacement, traffic studies, signal replacements, pavement markings, detour plans, quantity take offs, specifications, General Notes, etc.  Also, directed and coordinated the work of survey, geotechnical, environmental and landscape designers.  Traffic control and maintaining access to businesses during construction along this high volume roadway was a major challenge.  Utility coordination/adjustments on the old (over 60 years old) infrastructure of water, storm and sanitary was another major challenge.
