Roosevelt, Edel Plaza & Little York Place, Drainage and Paving Improvements, (M17 area) WBS No. M-410003-0001, City of Houston

Scientech as Prime consultant developed a comprehensive and extensive XP-SWMM model of this 28 acre neighborhood with open ditch asphalt streets built in 1940-50’s to study 2 and 100 year rainfall events. Major outfalls were identified and impacts were studied and mitigated for new curb-gutter streets with storm sewers. Survey was performed and P&P sheets developed for Art, Rubenstein, Kearney, Downey, Clifford, Sedgewick and Bennbrook, one mile of street reconstruction.

Existing trunk lines on East Little York were studied and impacts at downstream mitigated. Tree survey was performed to identify some conflicts with future sidewalks and the two Cul-de-sac pavement of Sedgewick and Clifford with aerials superimposed on survey to identify trees and other encroachments. Geotechnical study was also performed. This area had history of flooding by FEMA severe repetitive loss and COH 311 calls which was confirmed with XP-SWMM modeling and mitigated in the modeling.
